Seasonal Ballet

Ballet practice doesn’t pause for the seasons, so adapting your wardrobe to temperature changes is key to staying comfortable and focused. In warmer months, lightweight, breathable pieces are essential. Opt for sleeveless or short-sleeved leotards in moisture-wicking fabrics like bamboo or performance spandex, paired with sheer or convertible tights that can be rolled up for extra ventilation. Canvas ballet slippers are ideal for summer, as they allow feet to breathe and prevent overheating.

When the weather cools, layer up with cozy yet functional pieces. Add a fitted ballet cardigan or wrap sweater made from soft wool or fleece for warmth before and after class, ensuring it’s not too bulky to hinder movement. Full-length, fleece-lined tights provide extra insulation without restricting flexibility, and leather ballet slippers offer better warmth retention than canvas. For outdoor commutes, throw on a lightweight jacket or hoodie that’s easy to remove once you’re in the studio. By adjusting your layers and fabric choices seasonally, you’ll maintain comfort and performance no matter the temperature.
